Our final Mutt of the Month spotlight for 2024 is an adorable duo named Forrest and Oliver. Forrest was adopted at the inaugural Mutt Madness pet adoption event in 2018, and Oliver was adopted the next year. Patti Beres, who owns Be Green Pro, says she had such a great experience adopting Forrest that she decided to visit and play with the puppies in 2019 to see if she could find him a friend.
“None of the pups spoke to me, but then I saw Oliver, and it just felt right,” she remembers. “Sometimes you just get the feeling that this is meant to be. That’s what happened – I just saw him and immediately there was a connection.”
Despite the dogs’ size difference – Forrest weighs about 70 pounds and Oliver is under 10! – the two became fast friends. “It is unanimous amongst our family that we made the right decision,” says Patti.
Patti says that Oliver joins her most days at work. “As a female-owned company for the last 10 years, I’m in a niche position. Oliver reminds me all the time of how important it is to be small yet mighty. I am so thankful and blessed that we found him and were able to make him part of our ever-growing pets and people family.”
Patti says Forrest is the most wonderful, loving and playful dog. “He goes on walks every day and plays whenever possible.” Forrest has even invented many new ball games.
One of his favorites is “push it” where a human stands at the bottom of the stairs and Forrest sits at the top. The human say's "push it,” then Forrest pushes the ball down with his nose and the human catches it before throwing it back up for him to catch. Forrest also loves to pay hide and seek, which uses the "find it" search and is played either with a person or a toy.
“We are enjoying our little human and fur family greatly, and each member has staked a proper place in the heart and soul of our home,” Patti reports.
